The State Data Center (SDC) Program is a partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau and is active in all the states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the island areas. The purpose of the SDC program is to make demographic census data available and accessible to data users through a network of affiliated agencies.
The Alabama State Data Center (ASDC) is located in the Center for Business and Economic Research on The University of Alabama’s main campus. It was established by executive order of the governor and we are proud to be Alabama’s liaison to the US Census Bureau. The ASDC’s goal is to assist in the Census Bureau’s dissemination of Census data and other federal data sets and information in Alabama. This includes the monitoring and analysis of population, housing, employment, labor force, and income data.
Along with our duty as liaison to the Census Bureau, the ASDC provides technical assistance and services to state, regional, and local governments, the private sector, and the general public. Additional localized services are provided by a statewide affiliate network.
The ASDC specializes in small area data. If you are looking for information from the 1990–2010 census, we will be glad to help you find what is available!
